Brings Peace

Peace! It’s something all men seek. How wonderful would peace be to those people in war torn areas of the world. How sad it is that there are millions of people who do not know what it is to lay their head down at night in peace and tranquility. Worse yet, is the multitudes of people who do not know what true peace is because they do not know how wonderful it is to be at peace with God. We are told in 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ…”We are told in the Bible we will give an account unto God for the lives we have lived. Every thought, word, and deed we have had or done will be part of our judgment. In Romans 5:1-2 we read, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.” Our peace with God is made possible by the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross of Calvary. In Colossians 1:20-22 we read, “20and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. 21And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, 22yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach—“ Guilt is a terrible burden to bear. It haunts one night and day. There is no relief from it. Fear of the consequences of having done wrong is also a great burden. Children try to hide broken objects from their parents fearing the discipline they will receive for having broken the object. Fear for whatever reason totally destroys our ability to be at peace and fear of God’s eternal punishment is worst of all. Hell is a real place. God wants “all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth” and He gave His Son Jesus to die on the cross that we might be forgiven of our sins through our obedience to His means of salvation. The cross is the means God used to reconcile us to Himself. The word “reconcile” means “to be made friends again”. We can be “fiends” with God and have peace through the cross.
