Welcome to Moment with God’s Word, a daily devotional dedicated to the glory of God as we spend a few moments reading from His word and thinking about God and His plan for mankind. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. 3Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” (Genesis 1:1-3) “In the beginning God” are four of the most powerful words in history. In fact, history begins with those words. God’s first act was to produce light. Throughout God’s word light is given great importance. It represents that which is of God while darkness is associated with evil and Satan. John 1:1-4 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.” Jesus came to illuminate the way to heaven for a lost and sinful world.” Light dispels darkness and Jesus came to expose the darkness of Satan’s lies that misguide men into a world of sin and damnation. The life of a Christian is a life of walking in the light of God’s word. “If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:6-7) May we encourage you to walk in the light of God’s word today.
